Sand Casting

Sand casting, also known as sand molded casting, is a metal casting process characterized by using sand as the mold material. Sand castings are produced in specialized factories called foundries. Sand casting is the most widely used casting process in manufacturing Over 60% of all metal castings are produced via sand casting process.

Process

Patterns and made for the top and button halves

Feeds and risers are added to one of the patterns

Metal or wooden sand boxes are placed on the patterns

Casting sand in poured on to the sand boxes
